Inspired by the nostalgia of classic games and my passion for the art style of Yoshi's Island, I decided to explore a technique reminiscent of the pre-rendered approach used in the development of the Donkey Kong series on the SNES. However, I aimed to give it a fresh aesthetic using Unity.
1. Modeling: I created the models using Blender, ensuring they had the right level of detail and style to fit the vision.
2. Shader Creation: To achieve a unique visual appeal, I designed a stylized shader that gives the models a painted look, adding a layer of artistic expression.
3. Lighting and Rendering: I set up the lighting to enhance the shader effects and then rendered the models. This step was crucial to achieve the desired atmosphere and visual coherence.
4. Downscaling: After rendering, I performed a downscale, which adds to the nostalgic feel and increase the game performance.
5. Unity Integration: I imported the downscaled renders into Unity, where I set up the scene and carefully configured the cameras to maintain the visual integrity and style of the project.
